Cabin fever is REALLY real and we understand this more than ever, especially after a whole year of coping with a global pandemic. April 2021 feels like spring - spring on steroids. Fun, excitement, joy, hope, we're revitalized and feel it in our veins!
All around Wisconsin, signs of spring are everywhere. Various types of birds begin showing up. Robins, cardinals, and sparrows can be heard calling to one another; common loons begin arriving in parts of the state. Mallards and wood ducks begin incubating their eggs, and toward the end of the month you may start to see Canadian geese raising their goslings. In April, flowers such as lilac and lady’s slipper begin to bloom, as well as apple trees. Hints of white blossoms of trillium can be seen in wooded areas, and fiddlehead ferns begin to emerge on the forest floor, just in time for Earth Day. Sporting events such as Golf Majors, the Kentucky Derby, and Brewers Baseball are also revving up and especially welcome after being cancelled or restricted this past year.
Here, at Sunset View Resort, the tulips, irises, and hosta we planted in the fall are now peeking through the soil. The new trees we planted around the property, replacing the trees we lost in the storm of 2019, are now all growing little buds, which is quite emotional and fills us with a renewed sense of optimism. We are also busy getting a jump-start on our spring cleaning, so that we may welcome in our first cabin guests for the big Wisconsin fishing opener. Most importantly, our ice out on Post Lake happened yesterday, a couple of weeks sooner than usual, which means our docks will be in soon, too!
Patio season is back, our spring cocktail menu is in full swing, cabin season is almost upon us, and spring is in the air. We have events planned for Memorial Weekend, 4th of July, our Water Ski Show in August, and lots of fun things in between! So, whether you choose to DO ALL THE THINGS or you're ready to just relax a little with a cocktail, we can't wait to see you and thank you for sticking with us through it all. We made it. March, you did better this time.
